Community Based Organisations (CBOs)
Community based organisations without doubt represents the aspirations of their communities. This is because people’s felt needs galvanises and drives them into units to promote their cause. The formation of CBOs is issues- centred and easily identifiable characteristics. The single most important feature of CBOs is their non affiliation to government or its agencies. CBOs therefore form part of the Civil Society sector but focus their attention mainly to developments in their communities and among their membership.
Currently CHF works with CBOs in its Programme Communities to ensure interventions are self-driven and respond to the people’s felt needs. In Avenor and Ngyeresia, through the partnerships between our LNGOs and the Landlords and Tenants Associations, significant Housing Facilities Improvements were undertaken. The microfinance aspects of SCALE-UP also largely reached Traders and Entrepreneurs in identifiable groups like the Ayidiki Night Market Traders Association and several savings groups in Ga Mashie and Kwesiminstim.
