HISTORY
Training, Research and Networking for Development (TREND) Group was established in April 1989. TREND was conceived within the framework of the International Training Network for Water and Wastes Management (ITN) Program which was promoted by the World Bank and was one of four centers established in Africa under the Program. Its development has continued to be closely linked with the development of the Community Water and Sanitation Sector.
TREND was engaged by CHF International for baseline studies for the WASH-UP Program in selected communities in STMA and AMA.
CORE COMPETENCIES
To ensure sustainability activities have since 1997 expanded to include services in integrated watershed management, training for poverty reduction, and involvement in issues concerning urban fringe areas. Development of low-cost technologies, household sanitation, and documentation and dissemination of sector information have also become a key role for TREND.
